Kaspar Viilup

Kaspar Viilup is a cultural critic and journalist based in Estonia. He primarily works for Estonian Public Broadcasting, covering culture as both the editor-in-chief of online culture news and as a contributor to Estonia's main news show, Aktuaalne kaamera. With a decade of experience, he has written reviews and feature pieces on movies, pop culture, and music for most of Estonia's leading magazines and newspapers. In 2023, he was named Estonian Film Journalist of the Year.
In culture, he follows a single principle: nothing can be judged on a simple scale of good to bad. Every middling or even frustrating experience is as important and rewarding as the very best. Every era or genre is defined by both its highs and its lows. The best album in the world is only meaningful when contrasted with the worst. For him, everything goes, even when he hates it.
